PA DEMS STATEMENT ON DAVID MCCORMICK’S RNC SPEECH

PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson TaNisha Cameron issued the following statement in response to David McCormick’s RNC speech:

“David McCormick tried to hide behind false attacks because he knows he can’t defend his record of investing millions in Chinese military companies, supporting an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest, and funding China’s largest fentanyl producer. This November, Pennsylvanians will re-elect Senator Casey, a leader Pennsylvanians can trust to create jobs, fight fentanyl, and deliver for working families.”

Here’s the Truth About David McCormick’s Record:

McCormick has lied about lying in Pennsylvania when he really lives in Connecticut.

  • AP: David McCormick is lying about living in Pennsylvania.“‘I live in Pennsylvania,’ McCormick said” […] “In reality, he’s living in a $16 million mansion in Westport on Connecticut’s “Gold Coast.” [Associated Press]
  • McCormick did not vote in Pennsylvania in the 15 years prior to the 2022 GOP Senate primary.
    • “Records show McCormick has been registered to vote in Allegheny County since 1997. But he did not vote here for 15 years prior to last year’s Senate race that he lost to Mehmet Oz.” [WTAE, 9/22/23]

McCormick says he’s a job creator — but he actually laid off hundreds of workers in Pittsburgh.

As CEO of the world’s largest hedge fund, David McCormick invested in the biggest fentanyl producer in China.

  • McCormick invested nearly $1.7 million in China’s largest fentanyl producer. China is the source of the vast majority of the fentanyl that Mexican drug cartels traffic into the U.S.

McCormick also invested millions in blacklisted Chinese military companies, helping to prop up the Chinese military with advanced weapons and equipment.

David McCormick said he supports an abortion ban with exceptions only for the life of the mother.

  • Philadelphia Inquirer: During his first Senate run in 2022, McCormick said he supported banning abortion except when a mother’s life is at risk.
