PENNSYLVANIA — As students in Pittsburgh finish their last day of school today, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party is giving David McCormick’s dangerous agenda a failing grade. The Connecticut mega-millionaire and hedge fund CEO is failing at standing up for Pennsylvanians, protecting American jobs and supporting working people, as well as being honest about his upbringing and his support for a dangerous abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson TaNisha Cameron issued the following statement:
“David McCormick’s record of selling out American workers and supporting policies that would hurt millions of Pennsylvanians gets a failing grade. However, McCormick can practically teach the class on prioritizing China, supporting dangerous abortion bans, and lying about where he’s from and where he grew up.”
- David McCormick is lying about living in Pennsylvania.“‘I live in Pennsylvania,’ McCormick said” […] “In reality, he’s living in a $16 million mansion in Westport on Connecticut’s “Gold Coast.”
- David McCormick was also exposed for claiming that he “started with nothing” and “he didn’t have anything” when he actually grew up in a “sprawling hilltop residence.”
- McCormick referenced a family “tree farm” in a 2022 ad that was used for the family hobby of raising Arabian horses.
- David McCormick is out for himself and his wealthy friends, not Pennsylvanians. As the head of the world’s largest hedge fund on Wall Street, he made his fortune of up to $290 million by investing billions of dollars for the Chinese government and outsourcing jobs to China and India while laying off workers in Pennsylvania. He has also threatened programs that support millions of Pennsylvanians.
- David McCormick has deep ties to America’s adversaries. McCormick invested millions in blacklisted Chinese military companies that produced stealth bombers, fighter jets, and aircraft carriers. As CEO of Bridgewater, he increased investments in China by 108,000%, including in blacklisted Chinese companies with ties to human rights violations.
- David McCormick has a long record of killing and outsourcing American jobs. David McCormick “helped open up China to U.S. investment” as an official in the Bush administration, then, as a hedge fund manager he profited from the lower investment barriers he lobbied for. His work “actually made offshoring jobs easier.”
