PENNSYLVANIA – In response to the Supreme Court’s decisions, Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chair Sen. Sharif Street issued the following statement:
“This pair of decisions by the Supreme Court denying student loan forgiveness to millions of hardworking Pennsylvanians and their families across the country and allowing serving providers to discriminate against same-sex couples show how disconnected the judges are from the practical and economic reality we all face.
Discrimination, in any form, should not be permitted by law under our system of government. In fact, both decisions discriminate against people due to their economic circumstances, or who they choose to love. The Supreme Court should be protecting the rights of people, not eliminating them.”
