PENNSYLVANIA — Connecticut hedge fund CEO and mega-millionaire David McCormick has independent fact-checkers working overtime to expose his many, many lies.

McCormick’s Dishonest Record Is Being Exposed by Independent Fact-Checkers: 

WGAL FACT CHECK: McCormick did invest in China’s military

  • One of the claims the Casey campaign has been making is that McCormick invested in China’s military.
  • One ad states, “As a Wall Street CEO, he ran the No. 1 foreign hedge fund in China, pouring money into companies that build missiles and bombers for China’s military.”
  • The documents we found showed those investments were made when McCormick led Bridgewater Associates, so we label the claim as true.

FOX43 FACT CHECK: McCormick did not vote in Pennsylvania for 15 years

  • In a recent campaign ad, Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Bob Casey’s campaign makes a claim about his opponent, Senate Candidate Dave McCormick, calling his voting record into question.
  • The ad shows a clip from a local Pittsburgh television station claiming McCormick did not vote in Allegheny County, where he’s registered, from 2007 to 2022.

POLITIFACT FACT CHECK: Bob Casey did not “vote to sell American oil to China”

  • A McCormick campaign ad said Casey “voted to sell American oil to China.” 
  • Casey never participated in a Senate vote that led to the sale of American oil to China. Sales from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to a Chinese-owned company in 2022 were an executive action that required no Senate vote.

POLITIFACT FACT CHECK: Bob Casey does not want to “ban fracking”

  • McCormick said Casey and Harris “want to ban fracking.” 
  • There is no evidence that Casey has ever called to ban fracking. He has supported legislation to protect fracking and proposed legislation to impose environmental regulations on the practice. He told a local news station he would oppose any efforts to ban fracking by the presidential administration. 
  • McCormick mischaracterized Casey’s fracking support by linking his position to Harris’ previous disapproval.
